My second painting – also in watercolor – was another still life. The key components in this piece were first and foremost, the grapes. They pretty much transformed themselves. The other exciting aspect of this painting was how brilliant the colors came out. I had always thought watercolor was an exercise in pastels – even a little boring. But this proved to me that a lot of layering and tons of patience can bring out a brilliance in color that cannot be duplicated. I love this piece.
